Great Concertmasters. Carmen & Other Fantasies

Ravishing women, crazy love, revenge, fated death. And extremely talented violinist in the middle. Carmen & Other Fantasies… is filled with very popular musical compositions, loved both by orchestras and audiences from all over the world. Amazing stories captivated in notes and sounds will bring the listeners from the exhibition hall in TRAFO Trafostacja Sztuki into the middle of adventure. The stories that will capture your imagination will be told by the violin of brilliant Vasko Vassilev and Baltic Neopolis Orchestra.

Vasko Vassilev was born on October 14, 1970 in Sofia. Hailed as a child prodigy, he gave his first public performance and released his first record with the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra at the age of 8. At the age of 10, he began his studies at the Central School of Music of Moscow Conservatory and won his first international music competition in Paris 7 years later. When he was 18, he moved to London and his career progressed rapidly, what could be measured for example with the numerous, prestigious competition awards he had received. At 23, he became the youngest Concertmaster of the Royal Opera House in London and in 2005 he debuted as a conductor in the Royal Albert Hall. He teaches masterclasses at the Royal College of Music and Trinity College of Music in London, and at the Conservatory of Music in Spain. In 2010, for his 40th birthday, he published his autobiography Vasko@40, and a year later he joined the judges of the Bulgarian edition of the popular reality show X Factor. He is the founder and artistic director of Laureate instrumental group that includes only the truly talented musicians. Through the years he has worked with artists like Plácido Domingo, Sting, The Rolling Stones, and Vanessa Mae, his former student.
