The beginning of ballroom culture is attributed to the 1970s. It was created by black and Latinx trans women in New York City. The main idea of this culture is to create a space where LGBTQIA+ people can express their identity, celebrate diversity, and find support and acceptance. Voguing, an integral part of ballroom culture, encompasses various styles such as old way, new way, and vogue femme. This unique dance has become a symbol of strength, pride, and creativity within the ballroom community, allowing dancers to express their talent and individuality. Thanks to the popularity of documentaries like “Paris is Burning” and contemporary TV programs, voguing has gained widespread recognition and influenced mainstream culture.
We encourage everyone to dress in a way that reflects elegance, romance, and subtle coquetry. For individuals of all identities: dresses with ruffles, lace, pastel colors, pearls and bows will be perfect. Stylish suits, shirts in delicate colors and elegant accessories will also fit perfectly with the function’s atmosphere.
