Thank you for the great interest in the Open Call for the residency with TEKHNÉ – Be Aware of Sound!

We will have a pleasure to host the winner Mark Mushiva at TRAFO at the turn of 2023/24.

Mark Mushiva is a Berlin-based Namibian street poet, rapper and technologist. One-third of the award-winning Hip-Hop poetry group lack Vulcanite and professionally trained as a computer scientist (PhD with the University of Trento, Italy), Mushiva uses these two experiences to access and project Afro-Accelerationist visions, the dangerous idea that suggests that a deep, rapid and radical adoption of computer technology by African people can counteract the adverse effects of racial capitalism.

OPEN CALL for residency in December 2023

TRAFO Center for Contemporary Art in Szczecin welcomes applications for TEKHNÉ art residency programme. The  call is open to artists who work in the areas of sound art and experimental music.

TEKHNÉ is a sound art project, incorporating experimental music and visual arts, with open events held for artists, students and the local community. The essence of the above is to combine research, experimental, creative, educational and dissemination activities.

TRAFO provides accommodation, meal allowance, work space and a €1000 stipend during a three or four-week residency. The artist will be assisted by a person supporting them with their work and organization of events. During their stay in Szczecin, the artist-in-residence will be required to run workshops for the local community (including students) and prepare a show or hold an event open to the public (such as an exhibition, workshop, lecture or concert).

The project aims to support a more inclusive field, and to use sound and music as a vehicle to this end. TEKHNÉ is initiated by Q-O2 (BE), CTM Festival (DE), Skaņu Mežs (LV), OUT.RA (PT), GMEA (FR), TRAFO (PL), and is co-funded by the European Union. The project is a collaboration with the Academy of Art in Szczecin (PL).
