Performance by Nieszka Bogusławska and Alicja Pilarczyk „Soliloquy”, featured at the exhibition “Whatever you come up with about yourself”.
In June of 2020, Nieszka Bogusławska and Alicja Pilarczyk collaborated on a project whose goal was to reach an undefined space on the far ends of musical and performative arts. A place where sound, view and movement would interact with one other. Nieszka Bogusławska (dance) and Alicja Pilarczyk (violin) shared their experiences to put together a performance in which movement and sound merged into one.
The concept behind the project is to answer the question: What is loneliness? Bogusławska and Pilarczyk were inspired by the „Six Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin” composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. The set strongly focusing its symbolism and content on human existence. The artists used Bach’s pieces as a pretext for creating their original musical composition. During the process of the composition of „Soliloqouy”, they used the modern extended techniques of sound creation, stemming from contact improvisation in dancing and the language of communication taken from the GaGa language and the Butoh theatre.
