The opening of TRAFO Trafostacja Sztuki will be accompanied by a premiere of Exkurs, a composition created especially for this occasion. This unique score written for Baltic Neopolis Orchestra was inspired by the phenomenon of spectral music technique. In its essence, the piece approaches topics focused around sound, its value, temporality as well as the phenomenon of reviving musical palette in space.

Exkurs coexists with new choreography created by Kaya Kołodziejczyk. In her work with dancers, the artist refers to plasticity of gesture, visualization of human body motion and correlation between music expression and plasticity of space. The two contrasting worlds, of music and movement, coexist and, penetrating each other, create a new aesthetic quality.

Composed by Szymon Brzóska, choreographed by Kaya Kołodziejczyk, performed by Baltic Neopolis Orchestra.

Szymon Brzóska made his first attempts at composing in high school. He graduated from the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań, Poland as well as from the Royal Flemish Conservatory in Antwerp, Belgium. Brzóska is particularly interested in the synergy between music and other art disciplines, including contemporary dance, theatre and cinema. He composed music for Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Diastème, Maria Pagés, Patrizia Bovi and Olga Wojciechowska.

Baltic Neopolis Orchestra is a chamber string orchestra from Szczecin under the direction of Emilia Goch. Kaya Kołodziejczyk, dancer and choreographer. She performed in shows created by A.T. de Keersmaeker, T. Brown, W. Forsythe, M. Treliński.
