MIMICRY GAMES

Opening:

May 9, 2016 at 7 p.m.

"Mimicry Games" relocates the 2016 UEFA European Championship to Africa. Parallel to the European Cup in France, in Dakar, African professional football players from former European colonies will compete against each other wearing the jerseys of their former colonizers.

A live panel of experts, consisting of football professionals and experts from politics, culture, the arts and sport will kick questions about allegiance and football back and forth, while simultaneously commenting the match “Germany vs. France, Live from Senegal.”

With Christoph Biermann (member of the chief editorial office, 11 Freunde), Cathrin Gilbert (political editor, Die Zeit), Philip Kojo Metz (artist), Gernot Rohr (former manager of the Burkina Faso national football team) and Aino Laberenz (managing director of Operndorf Afrika). Moderation: Holger Liebs (former editor-in-chief of Monopol magazine).

A project by the artist Philip Kojo Metz in cooperation with Christoph Schlingensief’s African Opera Village.

“Mimicry Games” receives financial support from the Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung.
