Kaya Kołodziejczyk is our first Artist-in-residence. On September 9-15, 2013 she rehearses at TRAFO for her new show Sol.
Sol is an abbreviation of expression Shit Outof Luck indicating stalemate, worst case scenario, state of not having any satisfying possibilities for living. Latin „sol” stands for „the sun”, in Nordic mythology this word signifies a name of the goddess of the sun. Sol is used as a notion of Martian day and „G” sound from which the musical solmization system took its name. Similarly, ‘SOL’ performance is a result of numerous inspirations – roots of contact improvisation, back-to-the-land movement and its resemblance with artists need of isolation. It is also an self-reflective attempt to sum up a personal artistic career with elements of critical insight into the condition of a modern dance today.
